CLIENT

Fairview Health Ltd runs a healthcare facility at Triangle Park, Gloucester (GL1 1AJ) that uses substantial electricity during the day over healthcare equipment and patient care. The company seeked a renewable option that could meet a significant part of its energy needs while also helping it reach its long-term sustainability goals as energy prices kept going up

The Project

Solar4Good put in a 21.25 kWp solar PV system that can accompany the establishments running electricity needs, even when the panels are installed on the roof, which faces north-east. The technology saves considerably, and it also helps the healthcare provider show that they care about cleaner energy.

The technical scope included:

  • 50 xJinko 425W solar panels, which have a total capacity of 21.25 kWp
  • 1 × Growatt MID 20 KTL3-X inverter (20 kW)
  • Pitch of the roof: 10° (North-East facing))
  • Cost of the project: £21,000

The Solution

Solar4Good handled everything from evaluating the system and designing it to installing it and getting it up and running, all while making sure that the healthcare operations were not disrupted.

Some important parts were:

  • Difficult Roof Orientation:The system is made to work best on a roof that faces northeast.
  • Strong Parts:We chose Jinko panels and a Growatt inverter since they are efficient and reliable.
  • Streamlined installation: It was planned to cause the least amount of trouble for staff and patients.
  • Future-proofing: Future-proofing means that the design is flexible enough to allow for possible modifications, such as battery storage.

The Result

The solar system now makes between 17,000 and 19,000 kWh of electricity each year, which is more than ⅓ of the site’s energy consumption.

Environmental Impact:

  • Annual CO₂ savings: ~3,600 – 4,000 kg
  • Lifetime CO₂ offset: ~90,000 – 100,000 kg
  • Equivalent to planting 3,600 – 4,000 trees

Financial Impact:

  • System cost: £21,000
  • Lifetime energy savings (25 years): £70,000 – £80,000
  • Average yearly savings: £2,800 – £3,200
  • ROI / Payback period: 6 – 6.5 years

Client Benefits:

  • Solar energy helped the establishment plan costs more reliably by protecting it from changing energy prices to some extent..
  • Patients and visitors can see that a healthcare provider is making real progress towards being more environmentally friendly.
  • Employees like working in places that promote green efforts, which boosts morale at work.
  • Puts the organisation in a good position to follow future healthcare environmental rules.
