CLIENT
Lawrence Hill Health Centre in Bristol is a bustling healthcare center committed to providing vital services to residents. With rising operational costs and a growing focus on environmental responsibility within the healthcare sector, the centre sought to reduce its dependency on conventional grid power. Their goal was to secure long-term energy savings while showcasing a strong commitment to sustainability and cleaner air for the community
The Project
To meet the Health Centre’s high energy demand during daytime, Solar4Good designed and installed a 45 kWp rooftop solar PV system. The installation was carefully engineered to integrate with the existing roof structure while maximising performance across both south- and east-facing pitches.
Technical Scope:
- 100 × DMEG 450W solar panels (total system size: 45 kWp)
- 1 × Solax X3-MGA-40k-G2 inverter (40 kW, 3-phase)
- Roof pitch: 22° (South & East facing)
- Project value: £45,000
The Solution
Solar4Good provided a full-service package covering feasibility, design, installation, and commissioning.
Key Features:
- Optimised Dual Orientation – By using both south- and east-facing roof slopes, the system spreads generation across the day to align with the centre’s usage.
- High-Performance Equipment – DMEG Tier 1 panels combined with Solax inverter technology to ensure consistent efficiency and durability.
- Healthcare Compliance – The installation was planned and delivered with minimum disruption for the daily operations of the organization, making sure uninterrupted healthcare services.
- Future-Proof Design – System sized to allow potential battery integration in the future.
The Result
The solar panel system is now producing ~45,000–48,000 kWh annually, directly offsetting a significant proportion of electricity consumption and reducing strain on operational budgets.
Environmental Benefits:
- Annual CO₂ savings: 9,000–10,000 kg
- Lifetime carbon offset: 225,000–240,000 kg CO₂
- Equivalent to planting 9,000–10,000 trees
Financial Outcomes:
- Lifetime energy savings: £180,000–£200,000 (over 25 years)
- Average annual savings: £7,200–£8,000
- ROI / Payback period: 5–5.5 years
Client Benefits:
- Lower and much predictable energy costs
- Strong environmental leadership in the healthcare community
- Reduced carbon footprint in line with NHS and UK Net Zero Goals
