Shelton Family Home Solar Panel Installation in Birmingham
Delivered ~18,200 kWh of Clean Power for 72% Home Self-Sufficiency
Stuart Shelton, a proud homeowner in Birmingham, installed a 17.1 kWp solar PV system with 24 kWh of battery storage. The project helps him cut annual energy bills by up to £4,800, and offsets ~8,800 kg CO₂ each year.
Stuart Shelton wanted to do what any other person who aspires to join the sustainability movement, which is own one of those eco-conscious energy-efficient homes and take control of rising electricity costs, increase household resilience, and make a meaningful contribution to reducing carbon emissions, thus making him the proud owner of an energy-efficient home.
The Project
The project was simple: to provide his home with the necessary improvements so he can live out his sustainablility dreams. So, with this in mind, a 17.1 kWp solar PV system was designed for Stuart’s home, making use of multiple roof orientations (east, south, and west) to generate power consistently from morning, all through sunset and beyond. The system was paired with high-capacity battery storage to maximise self-consumption and provide reliable energy security.
The technical scope included:
38 × DMEG 450W panels (17.1 kWp total capacity)
1 × SigenStor EC 12.0SP Hybrid Inverter
3 × SigenStor BAT 8.0 Batteries (24 kWh storage)
Roof Pitch: 25° Flat Roof (East, South, West Facing)
Project Cost: £19,800
The Solution
We configured the system for high efficiency and long-term reliability which means Stuart and his family can still have peace of mind years from now. Backed with a whopping 24 kWh of battery capacity, surplus solar generation is stored and used at night, covering just about 88% of excess energy. The multi-orientation design means balanced energy production throughout the day, a reduced reliance on peak-time grid electricity and future-proofing against pesky rising tariffs.
