A Balanced High-Output System That Pays Back Fast
Lawrence’s home — NorthamptonA large 23-panel Aiko array on the latest all-black modules, matched to a Sigenergy inverter and twin batteries — a well-sized system combining strong output with one of the quicker payback periods in this set.
CLIENT
A family home in Northampton looking for maximum roof output with a competitively priced, well-matched battery system.
The Project
The roof comfortably carried 23 panels. The design focused on getting the panel-to-cost ratio right, keeping the payback period short while still delivering a full day-and-night storage solution.
The technical scope included:
- 23 × Aiko 475W all-black solar panels (10.93 kWp total capacity)
- SigenStor EC 10.0SP hybrid inverter
- 2 × SigenStor BAT 10.0 (18 kWh usable storage)
- Bird mesh fitted to all pitched-roof panels
The Solution
Solar4Good designed a system built around value — strong output at a competitive price — from survey to commissioning.
Key aspects included:
- Maximised Roof Output – 23 all-black Aiko modules sized to the full usable roof.
- Sharp Panel-to-Cost Ratio – Specified to keep the payback period as short as possible.
- Full Day-and-Night Storage – Twin SigenStor batteries for round-the-clock self-supply.
- Safety & Compliance – Installed fully in line with UK building and electrical standards.
The Result
Over 10,000 kWh a year from the roof and an estimated 7–8 year payback — a strong example of a high-output system priced to perform.
Environmental impact:
- Average CO₂ savings: 2,110 kg/year
- Equivalent to planting 2,200 trees over the system’s lifetime
- Lifetime CO₂ offset: ~53,000 kg
Financial savings:
- Lifetime savings: ~£46,000
- Average savings: ~£1,860 per year
- ROI / Payback period: 7–8 years
Client benefits:
- High output at a competitive price
- One of the quickest paybacks in this set
- Significant contribution towards Net Zero
- Sleek all-black modules for kerb appeal

- Generation: system size (kWp) × regional specific yield (800 kWh/kWp Highlands, 920–950 kWh/kWp England).
- Savings: self-consumed units at the 24.67p/kWh Ofgem residential rate; exported units at 7p/kWh (conservative SEG).
- Lifetime savings: annual saving × 25 years (no tariff escalation applied).
- ROI: system cost ÷ annual saving. Carbon: ~0.21 kg CO₂/kWh grid displacement; trees are illustrative only.
